Hi. Welcome back to Day# 11 of
“My 12 gifts for you”!

Today, instead of focusing on what you don’t have,
I give you the lens through which to see all you do have

Gratitude

Today’s gift, gratitude; to be thankful, to appreciate

Gratitude impacts everyone
To be filled with the great fullness of life (as Lynne Twist describes from her book The Soul of Money) can have a powerful affect on you and those around you.  We live our lives through the lens of scarcity
Many of us live our life through the perspective of scarcity. It seems so easy to notice what we don’t have. Many consistently focus on the missing time, money, friends, supports, opportunities, energy, health and happiness.

What you appreciate, appreciates
The truth is though, that what you focus on you get. If you focus on noticing what you don’t have, you will notice it more and more and you will miss noticing what you do have.

Notice where you do have enough
As I give you the gift of being grateful for all you have, start to notice around you places of enough, of sufficiency and abundance. Acknowledge for a moment, what it is you do have.

I am grateful for many things
I practice gratitude each and every day. I journal things I am grateful for and I work to notice things throughout my day.

Today, I am grateful for a loving husband. I am grateful a story was open to buy mousetraps when we found more mice in our basement. I am grateful that I had all of my children in my home last night for a gingerbread-decorating contest. I am grateful that my car started this morning in -32 weather so I could attend church.

What are you grateful for?
Start by just looking around you.  What do you see? Who do you see? Look in the mirror. Be grateful you have your sight to do that. Notice you have a computer to read this on. Many parts of the world are without power from storms. Be grateful you have power.

Make gratitude a habit
When you practice gratitude regularly, it becomes a habit.  You become more positive and notice things around you and comment on them. People would much rather be with someone and give them opportunities when they are grateful rather than complaining.

I am grateful you read this.

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog and all of my “Gifts of Christmas” for you!
